If I walk up to a complete stranger in a crowded store and punch them in the face for no reason whatsoever, I would likely be arrested and charged with assault, right? Wouldn't the same be true if I unload a canister of pepper spray in someone's face instead?

I certainly hope the woman who did this yesterday in a Los Angeles Wal-Mart is caught and charged. I also hope the off-duty police officer who did this yesterday at a North Carolina Wal-Mart is charged. But most of all, I hope Lt. John Pike is charged for doing this to students at UC - Davis.
