The Republicans who have been decrying the Occupy Wall Street protests as un-American could be idiots, but seems more likely that they are simply scared. Just as conservatives opposed suffrage and the Civil Rights movement, they oppose a movement which threatens to overturn the privilege of the wealthy. They fear that steps toward equality will reduce their status.

America was built on protest. This is part of who we are. Conservative Republicans had better get their heads out of the mythical 1950s and begin to come to terms with reality for the good of the nation.
