It appears that President Obama has decided to blame the progressives for the enthusiasm gap after all. I had hoped that Press Secretary Gibbs was merely "going rogue" when he trashed progressives last month. But it looks like he was indeed speaking for the president. What a disappointment!
To be clear, I recognize that the Obama administration and Congressional Democrats have accomplished some items on their agenda. I'll even buy their argument that accomplishing part of what they wanted is often better than accomplishing nothing at all. And yet, I am not particularly clear about their priorities, about what they believe, and about what - if anything - they are willing to fight for. And yes, I am also very disappointed that they have decided to run a fear campaign.
Obama's recent CNBC town hall was truly painful to watch. I really do hope this was unpleasant enough to wake him up. But if he continues to disregard and even mock his critics on the left, it is difficult to imagine that it isn't already too late.
I'm not interested in Democrats telling me what they believe. I want to see it in their votes. I want them to show me what they believe.
