For progressive news and opinion journalism, it is difficult to beat The Huffington Post. They have some excellent columnists, do some damn fine reporting, and have the clout to get interviews smaller bloggers would never land. And yet, I go out of my way to avoid linking to them, sometimes having to do a fair amount of digging to find other sources for a particular story. Why? They are notorious for pushing a dangerous sort of quackery, including creationist propaganda, homeopathy, antivaccination nonsense, and assorted pseudoscience.
Even if much of their political content is good, I cannot promote them in good conscience. Thus, I agree with those who suggest that it is time to write them off entirely. The progressive movement doesn't need them, and neither do I.
