No Sense of Urgency for Mississippi Gulf Cleanup

Connie Moran, the mayor of Ocean Springs, MS, is not happy about how the cleanup efforts in her area have been handled. According to WLOX, Moran recently found a five mile line of oil north of Horn Island which was being ignored by the one skimmer in the area.

Mayor Moran says she contacted the Unified Command, but she says the people she talked to seemed to have no sense of urgency about cleaning up.
I certainly understand Moran's frustration. By all reports, the response has been poor. I suspect that one of the reasons why "there's no boats to be seen" in the area has something to do with Gov. Barbour's (R) refusal to take the spill seriously until quite recently. Maybe's he's been preoccupied with fundraising instead of preparing for the worst environmental disaster in U.S. history.
