Much has been made of the Tea Party movement in the mainstream media, and I think that one of the kindest things we might be able to say about these assorted groups is that they raise some important questions about the role of government. If only they were more interested in thoughtful discussion instead of racially-motivated hate, they might actually end up being a positive force for change.

Instead, the more we learn about this group, the more I am convinced that they are largely a creation of Fox "News" and the misinformation they spew. That really is too bad because I think we would all benefit from talking more openly about some of the subjects that seem important to those in the Tea Party crowd.
