It seems that Rep. Bart Stupak (D-Mich.), the misguided conservative who sought to use health care reform to restrict reproductive freedom, is unhappy that Democratic leaders are ignoring him. It is nice to finally have some good news out of this health care debacle. Could the Democratic Party have finally realized that trying to compromise with each and every lunatic is going to cost them seats in Congress? Okay, maybe that is overly optimistic, but this does appear to be a positive development.

Stupak should be ignored as an embarrassment to the Democratic Party. As long as reproductive freedom remains a core plank in the Democratic platform, I would think that a Representative would be able to make an informed choice about which party provided the best fit with his or her views.

Here's hoping that whatever bill passes will do nothing to limit the reproductive rights of American women.
