I think Speaker Pelosi is correct that we need health care reform, that we need it now, and that we cannot afford the status quo. She is absolutely right on these points. What I am not sure about is whether we can afford an individual mandate without any sort of public option.

Since it now appears that Democrats are no longer willing to pass a public option, I'm not sure where this leaves us. Strangely, this doesn't seem to matter anymore. We are inching to closer to passing something that will be called reform.
