Welcome!
You have found Red State Progressive, a blog providing political analysis and commentary from a progressive trapped in a red state. Here are some examples of what you'll find here:
- Promotion of a progressive vision for America, colored by my red state surroundings
- A willingness to take Democrats to task for neglecting the progressive base who elected them
- Examination of the Republican plan for America and the implications for the rest of us
- Action alerts for what we can do to support a progressive vision for America

Background
Red State Progressive was born in 2006 under the unfortunate name "Consequences of Republicanism." George W. Bush was president, and my goal at the time was simple: I wanted a forum to explore the Republican plan for America. In the first post, I wrote:
I am starting this blog to provide an analysis of the policies promoted by the Republican party in America. I will also use this space to spread the word about political action we can take to promote the welfare of all Americans and other members of the global community.
After becoming disgusted with the 2008 presidential campaign, I took some time away from this blog. I was frustrated that the one truly progressive candidate was not taken seriously by the media, and I found it challenging to support then Senator Obama (knowing that he was no progressive).I've been away long enough. It is time to make some noise. America has a problem, and an infusion of progressive values is a necessary solution. I hope you'll join me on this journey.
